Arch Pain & Strain

Arch pain and strain refers to inflammation and or burning sensations in the arch of the foot. Pain and discomfort in the area of the medial longitudinal arch can be a signal that other conditions exist. Most commonly, arch pain is a structural imbalance in the gait cycle or a result of a direct injury to the arch. However, many times a person complaining of arch pain is, in reality, experiencing other conditions as the root of the arch pain such as: Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spurs, Post-Tibial Tendonitis/Dysfunction, and Over Pronation/Hyper Flexibility.

If arch pain persists and is left untreated often a bony protrusion develops and spur is formed as the body's way of protection. A doctor must be consulted to avoid unwanted complications.

Arch pain is easily treated and best avoided with the use of an ezWalker™ custom fitted arch support and properly fitting shoes. The ezWalker™ adds support to all your footwear improving balance, stability, posture, and providing comfort for you entire body. HTP Heel Seats are designed to secure the hind foot and will also bring relief to arch pain and strain. Simple rules to follow when battling arch pain are to avoid shoes with more than a 2 inch heel to lessen the stretch on the arch. When possible, wear footwear with shock absorbing soles to reduce impact on the arch and wear a custom fitted ezWalker™.

Feet are constantly changing as we age. Have your fit checked regularly and remember the size on the measuring device is only a reference. Mass manufactured shoes are NOT all created equal. Refer to the Shoe Fitting Reference Guide for proper guidelines on how to best fit your shoes.

If you are following these guidelines and arch pain persists, you must seek the council of a physician for diagnosis and treatment.
